The Motherhood Priority and SC Hospital Association Receive Grant to Study Work Environments for Nurses

COLUMBIA, SC, December 10, 2008— The Motherhood Priority and South Carolina Hospital Association have received a Community Award from the March of Dimes South Carolina Chapter to study the work environments for nurses who are mothers in hospitals.  A series of focus groups will be conducted with nurses who are mothers, chief nursing officers and nurse managers, and human resource executives and recruiters, representing an array of hospitals across the state of South Carolina.  Findings from the focus groups will be summarized and published in a report for distribution, and an educational program will be conducted to announce the results and offer hospitals across the state an opportunity to discuss and share best practices for creating mother-friendly work environments for nurses and eventually all other working mothers.
